Faint Research Inc. is dedicated to exploring the liminal boundaries where physics, cognition, and agency meet—those transitional zones where reality feels both rigorously lawful and strangely indeterminate. Inspired by emerging perspectives at the intersection of neuroscience, ontology, and fundamental physics, we investigate how modes of attention shape the phenomena we call “real,” and how complex systems—from minds to universes—co-create meaning. Our team blends theoretical research, experimental inquiry, and conceptual modeling to illuminate the subtle dynamics that conventional disciplines overlook.

Our Mission

Our mission is to advance understanding at the edge of the knowable by examining how cognitive frameworks, physical laws, and forms of agency interact to produce experience and structure the world. Through open inquiry, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to intellectual risk-taking, Faint Research Inc. seeks to reveal deeper principles underlying perception, causality, and existence itself.

Founding Director

Kurtis, the founding and current director of Faint Research Inc., is an award winning engineer, inventor, and writer. His intersts are diverse: the underpinnings of reality, cognition, and physics. His background is in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from Purdue University. Kurtis has won several awards in engineering and science including the Purdue 38 by 38, RAISE, and Lechtenberg Awards. He is a Burton D. Morgan and Lilly Endowment Fellow as well as an Alumnus of Ocean and Techcrunch Disrupt.
